Jubei:Rob's Arcade Cabinet

Slicing and Dicing

So I was finally ready to begin the construction of the cabinet in earnest. Many cabinets that I'd seen online were finished in a variety of ways, but I wanted to build something that was as much furniture as it was arcade cabinet. Something that I could put in a finished room and nobody would consider an eyesore. So I purchased 3 sheets of 3/4 inch Birch veneered plywood (40 bucks a sheet at Lowes). Strong stuff... and very heavy. From there I went to Sawmaster Bob (aka, my Dad's) for assistance with the cutting. This is very important since I can't be trusted with tools capable of taking arms or legs off. I need my fingers, and am somewhat clumsy ;)

Never mess with the sawman

Bob is sk1ll3d with the s4w3. Well, he has a skill saw, a jigsaw, and a radial arm saw. A few hours later and we were done! A few days later I found a 1/16th of an inch 1/2 inch deep router bit, and we routed the edges that I intended to put T-Molding on. All cutting took just a few hours on a saturday afternoon. Of course, it had to be horribly cold when we did it. Thats just how life works!
